It’s butterfly season!
By Sandi Erspamer
Last week, buckwheat was planted along the walkway, where our Indian Hawthorne shrubs had been previously planted. As many of you know, the shrubs were stolen over the summer. Cover crops provide the following benefits: increasing organic matter and available nitrogen in the soil; providing habitat, nectar, and pollen for beneficial insects, while choking out weeds and Bermuda grass
In addition, a new path was mowed through the wildflower meadow. We invite you to walk through and admire the second flush of bloom on the Indian Blanket,a benefit of the recent rains.
Other garden notes: Beans planted at the beginning of September around the teepee are taking off and will soon be twining up the poles. Sunflowers planted on August 27 by Ms. Massey's class are thriving and should bloom in a few weeks. October is peak butterfly viewing time. The butterfly habitat garden is full of all kinds of butterflies, insects and hummingbirds too. |

Dear Parents!
We are indeed off to an incredible start as we move “From Excellence to Eminence: Ensuring Amazing Outcomes for ALL students!” Thanks a million for your support of Harry Stone Montessori Academy. Our school is successful because of the partnership between school staff and parents. I know that this will be another Exemplary School year due to the hard work, commitment and dedication of our students and our world-class teachers and staff members. I also know that “together” we WILL ensure amazing outcomes for all students.
In each newsletter, I will share a portion of the A to Z poem titled “Children Are...”
Children are... amazing, acknowledge them.
Sincerely,
Lisa Curry, Principal
